ENVIRONMENTAL CAUSES
Nature has an intensity so profound that it transforms your perspective on the world. Yet, beneath its powerful facade lies an underlying fragility. This delicate balance has influenced my work for as long as I can remember. The urgent need to protect what we have before it’s too late drives me, and I believe raising awareness and connecting people to nature are among the most important actions we can take.
The Queens Green Canopy
The Queens Green Canopy has dedicated a UK-wide network of 70 Ancient Woodland and Trees, to demonstrate to the wider public the importance of these sites. These natural wonders deserve our protection, not merely for the sake of combating climate change, but because of the great abundance of life thriving under their ancient canopies. The campaign set up by the King and Her Majesty the Queen is a celebration of her 70 years of service dedicating the woodlands forests and trees to her reign, natures crown jewels.
‘The clearest way into the universe is through a forest wilderness’ - John Muir

‘Trees have always been regarded as the first temple of the gods’
Alladale Pine Custodian Project
Strength, resilience, and longevity, and have been used as symbols of national identity and pride in Scotland. Each tree that has a chosen custodian means that another fifty trees are panted adding to the regrowth of the Caledonian Forest.
The wonder is that we can see these trees and not wonder more’ - Ralph Waldo Emerson
A Portrait of the Tree
Raising awareness for the importance of trees.
“A Portrait of the Tree was conceived as a way of illustrating how trees connect us all on a universal level. The stories behind the chosen subjects are as important as the images themselves. Together they offer a powerful tool to help educate people, from children through to adults, about the vital role that trees play in all of us lives, helping to protect our planet for the future generations.
‘The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see nature all ridicule and deformity... and some scarce see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself’ - William Blake
