First enclosed in the 17th century by King Charles II the reason it’s called Green Park according to tradition, King Charles II wife Queen Catherine of Braganza had all the flowers removed when she found the King picking flowers there for a milkmaid that had caught his eye.
John Nash in 1820 planted trees in the park which was then open to the public.
